Under my Umbrella...

Yesterday was my birthday; I turned 22. I had the day off from work, as did Karl and he had planned a little day of surprises and adventures. I'm feeling a bit under the weather today so I'll tell you all about my birthday tomorrow. In the meantime I will end today with pictures of my little vintage umbrella brooch which I got on eBay. The umbrella goes with my mood.

How to Spend a Thursday in the Irish Sun

The last few weeks I have been yearning for summer and for warmer temperatures. Weather in Ireland tends to stay mostly the same with winter being of course much colder, but spring, summer and autumn featuring the same lower temperatures. When summer arrives there is still a lot of rain and drizzle and the time I have been in Ireland I have noticed that when it does get warm it only stays for a few days.
You can imagine my delight when on Thursday I come home from work and noticed that the sun was beaming down hot and that there was no breeze.

I dragged a reluctant Karl out onto the backyard lawn along with a duvet cover and pillows. Once outside, armed with a book and leaning back on the pillows, he was happy to be sitting out on the grass.
That morning I had been able to use my new spring coat in the morning. It has been used a few times but never from early mornings, as it has been too cold. It was brought along to our little rest on the lawn as I wasn't sure how soon the weather would turn cold.
I started reading a fantasy book, but had a hard time concentrating as I was too busy enjoying the warm sun and taking photographs.
It got cold soon enough and we went back inside. It was nevertheless a very wonderful Thursday.

At some point I brought out Scratchy and spent about an hour playing with her and watching her sneaking around on the lawn and climbing the tree. I took quite a few pictures that are too cute not to share, but as it is getting quite late for me and I need to retire to bed, I will have to post these tomorrow.

Old Self Portrait in Black Ink

I was going through some of my pictures today and found a self portrait I did a few years ago. I did it very hastily in about 5 minutes, so it isn't a masterpiece, but I think it turned out rather good. What do you think?

Wonderful Things in the Mail

The only bad thing about the apartment I'm living in is the fact that the postman can't deliver packages straight to the door. He actually can, just not to my door. The postman would have to put them into the main hallway, where the landlady would sort the packages out into the correct letterboxes, as the door is opened by a code.
So I have to get packages delivered to Karl's dad's place or to my job. Neither feel like the perfect solution. Karl went over to his dad today and he brought me some treasures which had arrived from different eBay sellers.

There was a cute jewelery box in the shape of a crown, which I had not been able to resist.
A striped shirt, which resmebles the striped oversized t-shirt dress from the Sonia Rykiel collection for H&M - I prefer this version - and an incredibly cute floral shirt which to me has a bit of a sailor feeling to it.
There was also this absolutely stunning and slightly quirky dress with the cutest floral pattern. It originally cost 105€ - I didn't pay anything even close to that! I love bargains.

One or Two and Chinese Takeaway

Yesterday was payday! One of my teamleaders had their last day yesterday, as he is leaving for eBay. He had his leaving pint at a pub with a cozy outdoor area with jazz playing in the background. Me and Karl were meant to go for one or two, staying until we had to go back as Karl's son was going to be dropped over.
I used my new heart shaped bag for the first time today.

We wound up sitting upstairs with Samantha and Ger and some other people from Karl's team. Sitting upstairs was nicer, as it was really warm and cozy, unlike the outside area with the chilly wind ruffling through my thin spring coat.
There were a couple of people from my team showing up, but instead of sitting with them and the person of the hour, we were all sitting upstairs enjoying the atmosphere. I didn't take too many pictures of the night.

We went back home and were lazy and ordered Chinese Takeaway, instead of going around the corner to the restaurant in person. It took over an hour for it to be delivered and we called a few times to check where our food was hiding.
It was worth it! I love Chinese food.
